DIY: Two Minutes Coconut Cream Lotion
While searching through Youtube, I came across this recipe for a very inexpensive lotion that anyone can make. It literally takes two minutes to put together and you only need two ingredients - solid coconut oil and vegetable shortening. It is so simple and so economical to make that it is perfect for those students studying overseas [we know you gotta cut any extra expense].
I love the way the creme is a good body creme but can be also used for hair care. Apparently, this has fooled a many of ladies into thinking this was a high dollar body creme. Just put it in an empty creme container and don't tell any one. :-)
Ingredients
1 cup Crisco vegetable shortening or eyeball 3 heaped spoonfuls)
3/4 cup Coconut Oil (solid) or eyeball 2 heaped spoonfuls
Method
Scoop into a bowl and whisk together with a fork. That's it!
Store mixture in an airtight container at room temperature out of direct sunlight.
Now I know some of you are thinking Crisco? Yes m’am! I know the use of Crisco in a hair or body product may seem crazy, but seriously it is just a mix of soybean oil, palm oil and preservatives. Besides, if it is good enough to eat it is good enough to put on your skin!
Here is a link to the video tutorial for it. Enjoy!
