DIY: Homemade Teeth Whitening
I just saw this posted on my FB wall this morning and the fact of the matter is, it can't hurt to try! I am going to start this little DIY this afternoon and see how well it works over a month's period. I'm not expecting a miracle, but I brush every day so why not add a few bits extra once a week in an effort to whiten, right?
Here's what you need:
- Tiny bit of tooth pate
- 1 Tsp baking soda
- 1 Tsp hydrogen peroxide (3%)
- 1/2 Tsp water
Put a bit of tooth paste into a small cup. Thoroughly mix in all the other ingredients then brush your teeth for two minutes.
Do this once a week until you achieve the results you desire. Once your teeth are good and white, limit yourself to using the whitening treatment once every month or two.
Do let me know how this works for you!
So I have been trying this for just about 2# weeks now. I have modified the ingredients by cutting it in half and the original recipe made too much for just one use. I used:
ReplyDeleteTiny bit of tooth pate
1/2 Tsp baking soda
1/2 Tsp hydrogen peroxide (3%)
1/4 Tsp water
I also increased the usage to 3# times a week.
So far, nothing. My teeth looks and feels really clean afterwards but in terms of whitening, nothing YET. I will keep using it and review again after a month. :)
woah , this is a really nice information !!Now I can save my money to dentist in kuala lumpur again .Thanks for that!
ReplyDeleteVery Informative blog. I got some oral products after consulting with Dr. Ken Wolch at Holistic Dentistry. It seems to be very good to use at home itself.
ReplyDeleteLooks simple enough, though the hydrogen peroxide part kind of worries me. Were your gums irritated or did you experience some mild sensitivity after using it?
ReplyDeleteDalene
I dd not have any adverse effect on my gums while using this mix. What I did do, tho, was went from using it a few times a week to using it every day and after about 2 weeks, I was bored because I saw no improvement. After a few weeks I noticed that my teeth seem a lot yellower than usual :( I would like to believe I over did it *sigh* I will not use this again.
DeleteIt is good to have a natural homemade teeth whitening.
ReplyDeleteIt’s too bad it didn’t work. I guess it’s best to stick with commercial products, or just go to the dentist for a regular cleanup and check up. Hope you find a product that works best for you!
ReplyDeleteI read somewhere that rubbing the inside of a banana peel works well to whiten teeth because of the potassium. I'm a little weary about trying it though
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing home made remedies for teeth whitening. You can also consult a consult for satisfactory results.
ReplyDeleteI also read somewhere that they use strawberries for teeth whitening and orange peel. I have not tried these yet. I have only resorted to commercially available whitening toothpaste but it stopped working after 2-3 uses. I hope these will work for me until I achieve what I wanted.
ReplyDeleteHi Audrey,
DeleteNormally home remedies for teeth whitening take longer time to show results. Its better to consult a dentist for instant results.
I will surely try your home remedies for teeth whitening.

ReplyDeleteThis seems pretty simple and natural way to always good and avoid side effects.
ReplyDeleteI tried this for a month, but no significant change was evident even after using this twice weekly. I finally went in for a prominent teeth whitening procedure at Oshawa. This was really useful and produced visible results. Also I had a big function to attend at that time. But, I keep using the homemade remedies expecting a favourable result, none of which worked.
I am really glad that I came across this article and the information about making your own whitening paste. I would love to have whiter teeth, but whitening strips are so expensive and I can't afford that. I hope that I will be able to get whiter teeth and not have to pay for the expensive whitening strips.
