DIY: Honey Lemon Face Mask

Following up on my Lemon Sugar Scrub of a couple of days ago, here is a DIY Honey Lemon Face Mask that may be used in conjunction with the scrub. As one will not exfoliate their skin daily, this mask may be used in between those days of using the scrub.

This natural, homemade face mask will soothe, smooth, heal and even out skin tone! ideal for sensitive, acne-prone skin.. Here's why:

Honey

Honey is a natural antibacterial and anti-infammatory. It absorbs impurities from the pores and the skin. Ancient beauties used honey and milk on their skin regularly to keep their complexion looking young, radiant and smooth. You can use honey as a wash, toner or mask. And you can mix it with so many other ingredients depending on your needs. It’s quite versatile.

Lemon

Lemon brightens and exfoliates. It’s great for acne prone skin, age and sun spots or uneven skin tone. It is also a natural source of vitamin C and rich in alpha hydroxy acids.

Isn't it amazing the simplicity of things we once found so complicated? Going to different beauty stores trying to find the right products for our skin? Tossing one aside and trying another? And Another? And another? That's the story of my life! Well, I say no more! I don't think there can be anything more powerful than a product that is all natural and made from scratch.

Here’s how to make the DIY Honey/ Lemon Mask:

What you need:
1/2 a lemon
2 Tbsp honey

Squeeze 1/2 a lemon into a bowl. Add 2 tbsp of honey (organic, raw, natural ). Mix it with a spoon until it’s a liquid consistency.

Apply it all over a clean face avoiding eye area. *Also make sure that your hair is pulled back away from your face as the mask is rather sticky!

Leave on for 15-20 minutes and rinse off.

Use twice weekly.

Tip:

If you are battling acne scarring as per Joanna in my last post, you can try smoothing fresh lemon juice over the affected areas nightly (or your entire face, it is completely up to you) with a cotton ball and going to sleep with it on. Rinse off in the morning.

Let me know if you try it and how it works!

  1. So, tonight's my first night using this mask. I got a very liquid concoction...I am not certain what the consistency shd be like? I used a clean makeup brush to apply the mixture to my face. What did you do? Did I mention how I am now constantly licking around my lips :D
